Witten is Back!
It was really great to see Witten out there again, his stats weren’t’ that great. Pero, he had a 4-yard T.D. catch. I couldn’t help but think about Romo - since he and Witten joined the Cowboys the same year. I still wonder what Romo could do with this line and all the talent on this team. I guess we will never know because it is now the Dak era and he did not disappoint on Sunday. Passing for 405 yards and 4 T.D.S. and for the first time in his career he received NFC Offensive player of the week with a perfect Q.B. score of 158.3. Only one other Cowboy Q.B. has achieved this no, not Troy or Rodger. Nope, that honor belongs to Craig Morton, he became a Cowboy in 1965.
The whole offense was really cooking with two receivers going for over 100 yards Gallup - went for 158 on 7 and Cooper 6 for 106. Even the former Packer Randell Cobb caught 4 for 69 yards with Zeke straight from his Cabo vacation going 53 yards on 13 carries. New offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is getting rave reviews for his part in the win. In addition, new Q.B. coach Jon Kitna should get a nod also.
The defense held New York to 17 points as they added a trash touchdown, I almost felt sorry for Eli but then I remembered his stunt in the inaugural game at the new stadium. That was of course him signing his name in the locker room as a way saying, “I own this”.
Demarcus Lawrence had a sack fumble with Awuzie recovering and Vander Esh looked good in his second year. Coming up is a Washington team that blew a 17- point lead against Philly last week. With the game in Washington I would not put this one in the win column yet, even though this rivalry is not what it once was.
But, if you think their fans don’t care you are wrong as I once made the mistake of wearing Cowboy gear there at a non-football event and was cussed out on the subway and downtown area. Won’t make that same mistake twice the Cowboys are still hated in Washington and their team will play hard. Noon kick-off not my favorite but prefer over night game, enjoy your weekend and let’s visit again next week.
